Eliza's charismatic stage presence and musical flexibility have led her to a wide variety of roles, from young debutante to aged matriarch. She completed her masters in opera performance at UNT in 2018 where she studied with Professor Molly Fillmore. While there, she played the roles Barbarina in Le Nozze di Figaro (2016), Madame Armfeldt in A Little Night Music (2017), and Souer Geráld in Les Dialogues des Carmélites (2017) under the direction of David Ward. She sang the role of Erste Dame in Mozart’s Die Zauberflöte, Fiordiligi in Cosí fan tutte, and Donna Anna in DonGiovanni as part of a summer performance series with The Fillmore Studio in 2016, 2017, and 2019.
Eliza received her Bachelor of Music in 2015 from Iowa State University where she studied with Mary Creswell and Jody Goble. While there she performed the roles of La Ciesca in Gianni Schicchi and Cunegonde in Candide, for which she was nominated for an Irene Ryan Award.
Prior to her studies at UNT, Eliza participated in the 2015 Cortona Sessions for New Music in Cortona Italy where she collaborated with fellow musicians, conductors, and composers to premiere new works. This inspired her interest in new compositions. She continues to commission and collaborate with composers on new music projects. She performed an original work by composer Jason Charney at the CEMIcircles Festival of Experimental Music and Intermedia in 2017 and has premiered new works of area musicians in recital. In Fall 2018 Eliza sang selections from Frauen Liebe und Leben for Margo Garrett as part of Collabfest at the University of North Texas.
One of Eliza's greatest interests is bringing classical music out of the concert hall and into her community. In Fall 2018 she collaborated with the Baroque trio, Trio Amaranti, on their fall tour of the DFW metroplex. She has sung with the Denton Bach Society and will be performing in virtual recital for Lumedia Musicworks in spring 2021.
